Ive always wanted a leather girth, so I bought a havana balding girth, 54", after measuring against the one I use, but its miles too big.

The beastie breathes out when tacking up, and I tighten my girth about 3 times before its ok. So, by the time Ive finished tightening this girth its on the top holes.

Does anyone else have this problem?

I took my aerborn girth to measure against when i bought my leather, and the first leather girth I took home was the same length - 50", so you would have thought that would fit. But no, it was 7" too short to even fasten on the bottom holes. so I took it back and it was swapped for a 58". But that was enormous, So we took that one back and got the 54". This fitted great for the first couple of times out, But I am now finding I am on the last holes. As I have ridden on it a couple of times, I cannot now take it back again.

My horse must have an incredible lung capacity to blow out and hold for the time he does. I feel safe hacking on it but if I am going to be doing a pleasure ride 15 or 20 miles I wouldn't feel confident using it. I am also starting hound excerise soon and would definately not feel safe then.

Ah well, will have to either take in to market or put on ebay, but it has put me off buying another one. Maybe I will try a different make/style.
