Leather Headcollar

Following on from MizElz post about leather headcollars for travelling...

Can anyone recommend a nice one?

I was thinking of the John Whittaker one in black. Anyone seen one in real life?

Any other suggestions welcome. I am open on this!

I have the Mark Todd one and it is lovely

The Mark Todd one is nice, but I always buy cheapo leather headcollars - they still look smart but because the leather and stitching is cheaper, they snap in an emergency and are therefore much safer.

I got my cheapo one from Beestons and it still looks smart after 5 years (fortunately no ponies have been in the situation where it needed to snap!).

I have a Derby House one for Red, and I am SO impressed with it. It was £19 and looks really smart. Its a tan colour, and almost the same as my friends JW one.

I have a very nice JB (James Barclay) one that I picked up brand new off ebay for about £25, decent quality and lots of people have admired it.

Ditto that

I've got one for Star and it's nice and large for a full size (longer in the cheek than most - she's ISH x Han) so fits her better than any nylon ones I've ever bought.

Just need to get it back from the saddler now as a certain hormonal someone managed to break it the other week so it's currently being repaired...

Does go to show its "safe" leather though

Ooh I just looked at The MT one. Really like the Australian Nut colour.

Ok Second question. Would Australian Nut suit a dapply rose grey?

Horse in sig!

I have Ascot ones for travelling and cheapies for the yard. The Ascot ones are adjustable both sides and padded over the head and nose. They are only about £25 so excellent VFM.

Mine have stubben and the horseware plaited ones, but I used cheapie leather for travelling, they break more easily, and I prefer that tbh

Urgh, no. I have a liver chestnut and have the australian nut one and it suits her but also have a dark grey and it looks awful on him.
Black for greys !

Ive got a stubben but it took weeks for my boy to let me near him with it????? Would come to be caught, tried to put it over his nose and he would leg it as if he'd got an electric shock. No problems with his usual nylon one
