Iam going to need to replace my faithfull old leather riding boots they are 20 years old and like slippers.
Only problem is Iam very short in the leg my measurement from behind my knee to floor is only 40.5cm my calves are 32cm.
20 years ago when I got my Hawkins boots I sent them back to the factory and had them shortened, they made a good job, but Hawkins boots are no more.
Ive looked at Mountain horse Supreme High Rider they are very soft but too long in the leg, and they wont drop enough, and because they are cut high at the side they come nearly over my knee!!
Ive looked on the internet at De Niro boots I think they will make to measure, any one know where to go for these? Also Ive heard Fil Fabri boots are very good but where do I get measured for them?
I dont want to wear half chaps and boots either, I dont mind paying if Iam getting some thing nice and comfy, any sugestions would be greatfully recieved. Thanks

I have similar measurements to you and I found that the Mark Todd riding boots fit me very well in the short length with standard calf fitting. There are cheaper ones (about £125) and more expensive ones (£215 I think...). I tried on the expensive ones and they fit like a glove but bought the cheaper ones which are a bit wider around the calf and are a less supple leather. I tried on some Mountain Horse boots in a similar price range but found that they were too wide even in the short fitting. I hear Brogini boots are good too, and you can choose the fitting you want if you go on their website. Hope this helps!

I have the same problem, the thing you got to remember with leather riding boots is that they can be restricting around the ankle if you don't get good ones. I found the ariat ones are good and they dig into my knees but most saddlers will shorten them for you, I get everything I won shortened for my legs.

Some boots I tried on which didn't need shortening are the Joshua Jones ones. They are very nice, I also like brogini, I have had these for 5 years and they still look new.

Thoroughly recommend Broginis for riding, but I find them very uncomfortable to walk in. Once I'm on the horse they're perfect!

I have a pair of De Niro Caprice boots, they are so comfortable - made to measure so fit perfectly.
The leather is very soft, and i was advised to go slightly longer size wise in the leg because they drop fairly easily because the leather is so soft. So for the first few times that i wore them i used heel raisers so that they didnt nip the tops of my legs! After around 2 months they now fit perfectly :)
I bought mine from 'second skin' i feel i got a very good deal and the measurements that they took were spot on!
They do have a website but i'm not sure of it, but i'm sure if you google it something will come up - they make wetsuits so think their website is fairly surfer orientated but you could just send them a message on there. If not i have the guy on facebook and if you private message me i can let you know his name :)

I too have problems finding long boots to fit as I have skinny short calves as well. I normally wear Ariat jod boots and gaiters, however tried on a pair of Sergio Grasso boots last year and they fit perfectly. I didn't buy them... but am off to Burghley at the weekend and have found a stockist so have saved my pennies and am going to get a pair there :)
