Leather saddle blistering ??????!!!!!!!!!!

Hi All,

I have a leather saddle and it seems to be blistering slightly, there are small bumps on the left knee role,around the cantle & saddle flaps. This saddle came with my mare so im not sure if it has always been like this, i clean it thoroughly atleast once a week.

Is this just wear & tear due to rubbing or wet weather or is it some sort of fungus in the leather?
Has anyone else had this happen to their leather? any ideas what it is? or how i can prevent it?

not 100% but i think it is from the saddle either being stored away damp or from being kept in a damp place? I had a bridle that did this over the headpiece and my saddler told me this was the case.
Nothing can be done to fix it either i was told!!

They're not 'jockeys' are they? Do they rub off if you scrape them with your fingernail?

Yeah they do come off if i scrap them, what are jockeys? x

Jockeys are lumps of grease - either remove with a matchstick or fingernails and clean.
