Can anyone help?

I've just bought (on e-bay) a lovely bridle in very light-tanned leather. As its new I desperately need to soften it up before I can use it, BUT don't want to do the traditional thing and slather it with Neatsfoot coz want to preserve the colour of it if I can.

Does anyone have any ideas of how I can soften the leather up without affecting the colour by making it darker? The leather is a "Barefoot" bridle and is really a bit more like Nubeck leather.

Very carefully oil just the back of the leather. Then rub in saddle soap on top, with a dry cloth. If you have a bar of saddle soap wet the bar not the cloth.
Be carefull the oil does'nt leach around the leather and get on the front.

Where do you buy your "Obenauf's"?? I've just tried e-bay and there's no-where in the UK?

Oh poo. Forgot that I got it in the US. You can get it from them, they do ship, http://www.obenaufs.com/ and it is well worth it. I came across it years ago and the tack shop we went to had little trial size pots for $0.75, so I got a few and can honestly say I've never used anything else since & when I run out, I'll be ordering more from them. Probably sound like an advert lol! I don't work for them, honest, it's just really good stuff! :D
