AAArrhhh!

Im heading abroad with work this Friday (5am so i dont even get to say goodbye that morning

) for a week and therefore will not be seeing my girl!

I have her on DIY and really enjoy doing everything for her. She is on a yard by herself (on an estate with other horses kept in the distance) so there is no one who knows exactly what her routiene has been!

Being a bit of a control freak

i have devised a document which has a timetable of who is doing her am and pm, what needs to be done am and pm, rugs she has on (including pictures), and her feed (including pictures). I also have a LONG list of peoples telephone numbers.

I was wondering what I have missed out??

I have made up haynets and need to stock up for feed and woodchips (on my to-do list!)

Any other ideas from people who have to leave their loved one(s) in the hands of others what i can do to make things easier for them?? Is there anything i have forgotten to do??

Sounds like you have covered most things! I am sure that it will be absolutely fine, just don't make the people looking after her TOO nervous! All vets numbers/any underlying old injuries anything she doesn't like etc?

Good luck, I would expect that you would come back to a hoss with 4 legs and a smile!

oohhh brill, old injuries- thats an area i havent covered. Definatly be adding that one in!

Thanks soooo much!! I will try not to make them too nervous! Gem is usually so well behaved so <touch wood>
it all goes well!

Any more greatfully appreciated!!

I always leave all the insurance details, company policy number what insured for etc and I always inform my vet iand let them know that Mrs X has full permission to make what discions are necessart.

I'm sat in Heathrow at the moment waiting to fly to the US until sat. The only thing you could do extra is to make her feeds up into carrier bags so that they then only need to tip them into a bucket

I also left my horse for a month in Decembe when I went to South Africa the only upsetting thing was that when i got back she loved the lady who had been looking after her more than me

and she had also fallen in love with all the foals there.

hey how spooky!

Ill be T5 on Friday and I also went to SA last year!

yup, i have done the feed things in bags in the past and that worked out really well. i will have to see how much time i have left to do these extras!

I hope you have a great flight!

If its just a week and you only have one horse, Id make up the feeds TBH. I do that when I go away for a few days competing (which has been up to 5 days). I just make up all the feeds and put in individual rubbish bags. Then I like tie the morning feeds in a bow, and the others in a knot for example.

I get most worried about rugs too! I had to leave my 5 horses for 2 weeks and only just got back last Monday. You never know if everything is covered do you?! And I have to say that when I got home, I had to go round the yard and put everything back the way it should be...
