Pointless post so feel free to click back!

I currently live in a very rural part of Wales having just moved home after 3 years away at uni. Unfortunatly there are no suitable jobs in my area so I am now having to look much further afield. Although I haven't found a job yet, I will which will mean moving away from home (I'm 22). I currently live at home on my parents small holding with my two horses and my parents also have a horse. I haven't even found a job yet or chosen an area and I am already worrying about my horses! I have a 16 year old mare in full work who I have had 6 years and a 17 year old currently retired/injured mare who I have owned for 12 years. Both horses have always lived on my parents quiet farm and are very loved and spoilt. Ideally I'd love to take both with me as they havent been apart for 6 years and they are very close but I know realistically I won't be able to afford to take both. There is no real problem with leaving my older pony at home with my parents apart from the fact she's my baby and I don't want to leave her! She would have the company of my parents other horse, there is plenty of land, stables ect and she will be well cared for. What I will feel most guilty about, apart from abandoning my pony, is dragging my horse away with me. I have never kept a horse anywhere other than my parents small farm, I just don't think she would adapt very well to livery

This is actually a really pointless post, just me worrying about things that haven't happened yet. I would also have to leave my puppy behind! She's a 9 month old lab who follows me everywhere but it wouldnt be fair moving her from a farm to a flat/house somewhere with me working long hours.

I know I can't let my horses get in the way of my job and will always make sure they are cared for but it's just so hard!

I do feel for you. I am in a similar position but I managed to find a job near home and still keep my horses there, with my dog, but the compromise is that I have to live there so that I can afford to do the horses! Still, hopefully it shouldn't be for too long.

I always had my old mare in a rented field, with only my other horses, for over 10 years. When I got married, I couldn't afford to keep more than 1 horse (and pay the mortgage lol) so I had to sell my younger horse. I hated the idea of putting her on livery, and after a couple of "false starts", found an assisted DIY yard which gives me the best of both worlds.

She's happy, and loves being my only horse! She's become a spoilt brat (at 26, I forgive her most things lol), a mint addict, and has the best of everything I can give her. If anything, we've got a stronger bond now than we ever had before.

I think we worry about things far more than they do, so find the job that's right for you, and then find a livery yard that's right for your horse

She'll settle in much better than you think!

I really really do feel for you! I just cannot imagine moving from here and not taking any of my horses/dogs
