Hi everyone

so I'm leaving Harley for the 1st time to go on holiday for 2 weeks. :( Leave next Sunday. Really looking forward to my holiday, but dreading leaving H. So worried something terrible will happen!! He is being looked after by good friends of mine who have his best mate, George. He would hate kennels. Still worried though!

anyway, was thinking today about his ID tage and microchip. the phone numbers are obv mine (and OH on microchip). We will have our phones on us, but should be get a new set and update the microchip people with the peoples numbers who are looking after him? He has never strayed or anything before, his recall is excellent, and he knows and loves them so don't think he'd go off, just thinking worst case scenario!!!

What do other people do?

I scan the dogs I board and write their numbers down, so if they escape I can call chip company and say, this dog is in my care please call me if found or contact this vet (and use the vets Im registered with for my boarding) just incase they are a little funny in giving me details, they never quibble over contacting a vet.
I also stick my own tags on the dogs with my details on.

right, so will get some new tags done this week

Should I mark holiday carers on them and leave mine on? Or take mine off too?

do you think it's worth calling the microchip company? Maybe they could mark his file?

Wish you weren't so far up north Cayla! Even though I've never met you I think I'd be calmer with he was going to you! Maybe next time I'll do the mamoth trip, if you'd have another whingy pointer!! lol!

Lol, lady la la travelled a wopping 5 hours to me and back....MAD OR WHAT:rolleyes: she is weird that one though;):D

No harm in contacting chip company and adding an extra number.

I *think* I remember that petlog do a holiday number thing to keep on file, then you inform them you are off on hols and that dog is in holiday place before you go. I think...I may have made this up! :D

think coming from south Hampshire I'd be at least 5 hours too!!

Thanks V. His micropchip is Identichip. Just been on and upgraded him to their "locate" scheme which gives me holiday details and if he went missing they email his details to all vets, dog wardens and rescue centres!! Not bad for £18 for 8 years!!! :)

Just had a new tag done for him in Sainsburys (also bought him some boxes of treats while he's away! lol!). I think he's all organised!

Thanks everyone! :) :)
