I've had some work done on my very new arena, long story but I'm left with quite a bit of sand to dispose of. I've used quite a bit as a base for my field shelter and outside it and have put arena stone down in one gateway but I am left with a dumper load of clean sand which isn't needed. Any ideas what to do with it? It is ok to put sand in gateways which are currently dry but get a little muddy in wet weather or will it make them deeper?

send it to meeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D (by post)

sadly i currently have no where to put in :( - but would love it just for that day that i WILL get my school!

My OH said to use it as a base for a new patio but it seems a waste to use really good quality equestrian grade silica sand under a patio!!
When we lived in South Africa we had a sand pit for the horses to roll in when sweaty but I'm not sure I could be bothered brushing sand out of my horses every day. The horses in SA had much shorter coats.
Will see if I can find anyone locally who might want it. Thanks for replies.

Once your arena has bedded down and had a bit of weather on it, you might be glad of it so hang on to it!

I've got it piled up next to the arena for when I finally make up my mind. Thanks for all the suggestions. The horses are loving the sand base in their field shelter and the sand area in front of it. It's amazing how much a change of surface entertains them. Fingers crossed I can actually get to ride on my new arena now :0)
