When I pick up my 5 year olds right hind leg, it cracks loudly, I think from the fetlock. Should I worry about this or is it nothing? He is perfectly sound.

All experiences gratefully received.

BH has clicky fetlocks and I asked the vet in passing whether to worry. I was told absolutely not, it's just air moving in the joint and to ignore it.

My cob's hock always used to click and crack for the first 10 minutes of exercise, however coincedentally it now cracks loudly and clicks all the time and has just been diagnosed with hock arthritis and is very sore. Keep an ear out for any change in the sound!

We had an accident while haveing a jumping lesson, my mare came down on the back rail and caught the pole between her hind legs. She came off the trailer lame. I picked up her back legs after checking for swelling and there was an almighty crunch from her hock. Vet came out and she was OKish, just put her on box rest and bute for 24 hours. That was 18months ago.
Since the accident, her hair has grown white on both her hocks and her one hock clicks and crunches everytime i pick it up.
Ive had x-rays and an ultrasound and both have come back good. The vet said it could either a be stretched ligament going over her hock and clicking back or as already said an airpocket. She said not to worry its just like us having clicky joints!
Bottom line is dont worry all should be fine :)
