Just had vet to look at what we thought was mud fever ( odd as no mud !!) but vet says its a dermatitis caused by sensitivity to sun. I'm sure I've seen sun/fly protection wraps or boots somewhere but can for the life of me remember where !!!
Anyone know of any ???

I bought these for a mare of mine who needs them for the same reason.

I would recommend not leaving them on though, they irritate sore legs so I bring in during the day and out at night. My mare has uv light sensitivity due to a liver complaint she has developed...did your vet not want to do a blood test to check for this? One thing I have found, is that it is a horrible condition to try to manage. The poor girl gets open sores even in the mildest of cloudy days so has to be in. I did get her a UV rug but thanks to our lovely weather going very hot again last week, it didn't help against that sort of heat.

Whitehorseslave - ill check those out thanks ... I wish we did have mud tbh as the grass is so dry and desperately needs some moisture ... Never happy are we !!!
HMB1 - thanks for your ideas. Vet didn't talk about bloods but we are just going to see how it heals for a few days and if no improvement then we'll think again. I'm sure it'll go though. He is a sensitive TB so not surprised really ! He's on loan with a view to buy so got to get him back to full health quickly ... He came with the sore areas and wasn't told about them but found them on the first day ( had a good look all over him !) and they claimed to know nothing about them !
