I need a bit of help please. In January I left my livery yard and paid one month's rent to keep some of my things there until I could come back for them. Went back in February but couldn't find my electric fence things that had been left in the paddock, asked around, nobody had seen them but said they would keep an eye open. Couple of weeks ago was talking to a friend (who has nothing to do with the yard) who said she had bought some electric fence posts in January from the person who had taken over my paddock.
Is this theft, bearing in mind it happened 7 months ago, and what can I do? There is also a solar panel, 2 batteries and some tape gone.
I would be very grateful for any help.

Thanks for replying. I haven't asked the YO as he hasn't been there when I was. No, I can't prove they're mine but they were the only tall green ones on the yard, everyone elses were short white, and the OP bought long green ones.

I would say yes. Ask YO wher your Electric fencing post had gone, seeing you had paid up front, they I think are liable for any Thefts.

I agree with Echo Bravo, ask the yard owner for your property back. If YO says they are 'missing', then inform her that you will report the items as stolen to the police.

You might be best trying to have a "friendly" word with the person who took over your paddock.

The problem with the police is that they just bring a case to the criminal courts with regard to prosecuting the theft. They do not get involved in the civil matter of restitution.

If you speak to the person you believe sold your stuff and mention that you had left your fencing behind to be collected at a later date, have they seen it / do they know what happened to it ?

If the answer is no, then say you will wait and check with the YO and if they haven't stored it then you plan to call the police and report it stolen.

This might prompt them into offering to replace it, especially if you say as long as you get your fencing back you don't want to take it any further.
