Hi all, We are taking our dog abroad later this year - he has his pet passport, rabies vaccine etc. We are going to an area where leishmaniasis is an issue and in the past have used Scailbor collars but our vet has also suggested a new vaccine called CaniLesh (to be used as well as a collar to give more protection).

We will almost certainly get this done but I am trying to find out whether there are any adverse reactions to the vaccine - can anyone who has had it for their dog post their experiences please? Thanks in advance!

Not had any experience with this vaccine, but here is the extract from the data sheet:

Adverse reactions
After injection, moderate and transient local reactions may occur such as swelling, nodule, pain on palpation or erythema. These reactions resolve spontaneously within 2 to 15 days. Other transient signs commonly seen following vaccination may be observed such as hyperthermia, apathy and digestive disorders lasting 1 to 6 days. Allergic-type reactions are uncommon and appropriate symptomatic treatment should then be administered.

I live in Italy and have still resisted using the vaccine for leishmania for my dogs.
if we go to the seaside, where there is a more risk, we use a scalibor collar and also shampoo the dog with the scalibor shampoo.
we don't leave our dogs outside at dawn or dusk...when the fly will be active..
You can also use a natural spray ,eg citronella to repel the flies..
