I want to buy some LeMieux exercise bandages to match my jumping pads but was wondering what the difference between them is. Which ones need gamgee underneath and which can go directly onto the leg? Which do people prefer?

I don't think your question is sufficiently clear.

Le Mieux exercise bandages are just that - the only difference between each one is the colour you choose. Unless you mean the difference between exercise bandages and polo wraps? Whether you need gamgee - or a pad - or not depends on why you are bandaging. If the purpose is only to have bandages that match your numnah then please don't. Overheating tendons weakens them. I like my horses to look nice too - you should see my rug collection! But they don't deserve to suffer for our vanity. If you need to bandage for a specific reason then absolutely go for it - but understand why your are bandaging and what it is supposed to achieve. That will tell you which types of bandages to use.

Sorry for not being clear, I have a thoroughbred with very very skinny but quite long legs so it is extremely hard to find a pair of boots that fit her nicely so I have found that for flatwork and schooling at home it is easier to use bandages. She tends to bump herself quite bit (not badly) when ridden so I like t give her that extra bit of protection.

I see that have normal fleecy polo bandages but they also have something called combi bandages. I am used to using fleece bandages with nothing underneath but was wondering if these combi bandages are any better and if you need something underneath them?

Ah - much clearer thank you! I will confess that on the very rare occasions I bandage to school I tend to use exercise wraps rather than bandages these days so hopefully there will be someone with more direct knowledge of Le Mieux than I. But in general terms I would keep the amount of padding to the absolute minimum you can whilst still providing the protection you need against knocking herself. Those combi ones actually look very good if the straightforward fleece isn't quite enough for her.
