I've got an 18" Albion Jump Saddle on a new horse, he's a new horse who had been on light work for a variety of reasons, he will change shape as he muscles up . He's now able to work more and we have both upped the work and feed accordingly. I've had a saddle fitter out and we have adjusted one of my saddles from a wider horse, but left him room to grow and filled the gap with a Pro Sorb saddle pad, in the intention of reviewing the fit once he's been in work for a period of time and muscled up accordingly.

I've got a number of Le Mieux Pro Sorb pads that according to the spec are suitable for up to 18" saddles, but they are a little shorter than I would like with the edge of the insert only just covering the lining under the cantle.

I've got a Griffin NUmed pad but don't like the cut of it - What do other people use?

I've just got a mattes numnah, it's fabulous. Mattes do a wide range of numnahs, half numnahs and saddle pads, mine is the GP semi lined with front trim and 4 pocket correction system.

The XL is a very generous fit on my 18" MW Ideal Event saddle, a L would have probably have done ok. My wonky mare is coming back into work and my saddle fitter has fitted the provided shims asymmetrically in it, they will constantly be adjusted as she (hopefully) straightens up. The fit is much better than the nuumeds I usually use. Mattes are costly, though, and are made to order, so allow a few weeks lead time.
