Length for Dressage girth

I have just bought a second hand dressage saddle on ebay and am very excited. I would like to buy a dressage girth soon so that I can enjoy the saddle as soon as possible! Don't worry it will be fitted by a saddle fitter before I ride as I am very lucky to have a friend and fellow livery who is a saddle fitter. I was wondering what size girth I will need though. Is there anyway to work it out based on the size of the girth I have for my gp saddle? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

1/2 normal size then rounded up to nearest 2" gap. EG is a 48 would be a 24 but if a 50 would be a 26.

This is only rough though and will depend on strap length

We had the same dilemma when we bought a dressage saddle. Wait for it to arrive, put it on your horses back & then measure for the girth size allowing for 3-4 holes either side when girthed up. That way you should know the size you need. I would think your friend should be able to assist you with it.
