I purchased a 4 1/2 year old pony before Christmas. I am a rusty, quite nervous rider. My old mare retired 18 months ago and I only pottered on her for a couple of years before this. I have a toddler an 8 month old baby and have just gone back to work - what was I thinking!!!

Anyhoo - I turned 40 last week and have decided this is where life begins.

So this afternoon I have booked in for a course of lessons on a school master, then the instructor is going to come and give me lessons on my new boy (I am just going to continue hacking and walking/trotting in the school on him until then). I have also e-mailed about a local Pilates course and am determined to get fitter.

I am determined that by the summer I am going to;

- Canter on a stubble field
- Do a walk trot dressage test
- Manage to go over a cross pole

All these will be performed without wetting my pants - better put pelvic floor excercises on the list too!

Advice from a continence nurse.... Pelvic floor exercises are for life not just for Christmas. This applies to men too

Go you....I am going to have a lesson with a dressage lady this year....or I will when horse is sound for longer than three weeks and we can both get fit enough;)
