Lesson Ideas....Again!!

I have been lumbered into helping the other 2 girls on the yard....

So - Tomorrows pupil is 17, plans to event her mare (realistically wont do anymore than a local HT)

So, mare is stiff in canter on right rein. not been in the school much for the past few months, just hacking.

Riders idea of an outline is to saw saw saw until the head comes in....

Any suggestions as to what to do with her?!

Tell them to pay for professinal lessons and keep well away from them. Because if anything goes wrong you will get the blame big time

Lots of bending and suppling, serpentines, circles, lateral work and so on to get the mare less stiff and get her to focus. Then flexing in the canter and bringing her neck inside the circle for a few strides and straightening. Work on getting the mare to soften without sawing. Take and ease, in other words

Obviously it won't come in one lesson though..
