Well, after 6 months or so off riding, (due to getting my grades up mostly ) I had a lesson tonight
I'm so unfit!
Tacked up Dawi, a nice Welshy thing, and took him to the indoor for a half hour private with my favourite instructor
Thankfully I can still get on Walked him around, sorted out stirrups, then got him up to trot. A little slow at first, but he soon warmed up. Changed the rein, had another trot, then up to canter. And for once, I wasn't nervous He tends to do little bucks when he's feeling lazy, but I didn't worry when he did, and we set off into a nice canter. Had a few more canters on both reins, and then had to finish, as we were running out of time.
Then got to ride him up to the yard and have cuddles and put his rug on
I really missed riding I'm so happy to be back - the yard's not changed a bit, and Dawi feels even better to ride than he used to. In the past we've really struggled but he's taught me so much, even starting me off with walk-canter transitions
Back's a little stiff but otherwise I have emerged unharmed
Targets!
Overall a really lovely lesson to get back to riding Thoroughly enjoyed myself and can't wait to ride more after christmas!
Thankyou for reading Hope everyone is happy and well - and have a happy christmas/hanukkah/new years

- Improve my core muscles!
- Keep the weight in my heels, don't forced them down, but more time riding will help this
- Mostly remembered trot diagonal, but work on trying to check without looking down
