I have had the most amazing weekend! :D

On Friday I had the pleasure of being taught by Ollie Townend!! It was amazing despite Andy being a total nutter, I've been saying how calm and well behaved he's been lately then on Fri he obviously decided to prove me wrong. :L

We started off by trying to walk and trot round on a fairly loose rein but this was all too exciting for Andy so we got lots and lots of extended trot and the odd yippee into canter. Ollie thought we were showing off with the trot but in all honesty I was just trying to slow the little begger down. :p Then we started picking them up and were meant to practice our extended trot but Ollie thought it would probably be best if I kept Andy as slow as possible.

The first jump was also very interesting we turned the corner to a 2ft cross and Andy went 'woo jump' and galloped at it almost full speed so to fix this Ollie stood in front of the fence the second time and moved just as I got to it. :o I would have felt awful if I ran him over but it worked in slowing him up sort of.

We carried on jumping various different jumps and combinations then we did an oxer with the front rail slightly higher than the back to get the horses to pick up their front feet, it was a good exercise and Andy was one of two who didn't knock it so I was very pleased with him.

After some more bouncing and generally being a prat we managed to jump around a course of fences and he was very good and jumped a nice clear, Ollie said I was dealing with his eagerness well and even remembered me in the demo in the evening which was also brilliant to watch. :)

Then to top it all off today I took Andy to Summerhouse for some bs and we almost jumped clear in the 1m if my sat nav worked :o: but we did our first ever 1.05m together and he was a star and jumped a beautiful clear round so I'm mega chuffed and have finally got over my nerve of moving up a height. No video or pictures from today though as my mum wanted a rest.

Onwards and upwards from here hopefully. :D

Awesome :D

I'd have died laughing if you'd come on here and had to confess to maiming OT though  :D It looked pretty close in the video too - he's braver than I would be, standing in front of you!

Last round looks lovely though - nice one :)

Videos look great, we went to the demo too and I was wondering if anyone had taken part in the clinic itself. Did he pay attention to everyone in the group...I have heard so many mixed things about his lessons but it looks like you had a fab time...and well done at summerhouse to- I was supposed to go today to do the BN but didnt get up!!

Well done - your horse does indeed look like he is a whizzy pony in disguise, but you sit very well! Glad OT has quick reflexes - he did leave it very last minute to get out of the way there!

I would have felt awful if I maimed him, luckily he moved out the way because I'm not 100% sure Andy would have stopped. :o

He was really good and I found he divided his attention well between everyone, was definitely worth it for me though as both pony and me had a great time.

Funny you say that about the 12hh pony thing because he is pretty much a bigger browner version of my old 12hh mounted games pony, it's brilliant fun.

I must admit he's not normally that bad, today at summerhouse he was as good as gold, I could have gone round without a bridle, he just has days where he's really good or days where he is a right handful. :)

Thank you! :D

I think the only time Andy looked like he was having more fun than that was at the beach last weekend where he was just allowed to gallop and gallop. :p

Naw he is very good at extended trot you know  :D

Looks like you had fun in the lesson and well done for the SJ too. Onwards and upward for you two now :D.

The worst thing I ever did was teach him extended trot! Apparently it's necessary ALL the time.

Thanks everyone he is so much fun to ride, I absolutely love the little guy. :)

I would have felt awful if I maimed him, luckily he moved out the way because I'm not 100% sure Andy would have stopped. :o

It looked to me like Andy had no intention of stopping  :D Would have been a shame - he rather suits a pair of jodhs ;)

Ollie, that is, not Andy

I agree with whats been said.

You sit really well and quiet to Andy and from previous threads, you both seem to have gelled together much more. What a fab, fun little horse, although I'm not sure my nerves would extend to riding something like him these days.

Well done on your BS report as well. :)
