Lessons - how many do you have?

Not enough, about 3 times a year :o (helps if you have transport or a good arena at home, I have neither) which explains why I ride like a bag of horse poo:D

I haven't had a riding lesson in 14 years ... BUT I do plan on getting a few over the winter when I can as work riding racehorses has really changed the way I ride. I was taught for the show ring now I have a tendency to ride in a hunting seat, I lean forwards and probably have too strong a leg contact and rarely pick up my reins. That said the ponies I have backed and schooled and my reschooled racers always get high ride marks at shows so I can't be doing overly much wrong with schooling them. I just look at the pictures afterwards and go - urgh!

Once a week a lesson with my trainer - then try to have at least one lunge lesson a month, and then two / three times a year a lesson on a good schoolmaster to keep the more advanced movements fresh in my mind on how it should feel !

Feel it's money well spent

After about 10 years of no lessons at all ,i have restarted. My own horse is a light hack due to injury so i have started with group lessons and am now having a private lesson every fortnight on a lovley dressage school master to iron out my many bad habits and improve my riding. Very hard work but loving it.

I had 2 years of lessons once a week and now, because I have a share pony I normally have 1/2 a month. It depends if someone else at the yard is having one as to when it is.

I ride Rossi 5 or 6 times a week, on weeks when we aren't competing.

-Generally, I have 1 session when my mom acts as trainer (she is a trainer up to GP level, so it's a nice free service :p love you really mom!) instructing and offering CC

-1 session where my other main trainer gives me a lesson

-1 or 2 session where I have a level of supervision or record the lesson and have trainer give her ideas in the middle and at the end

-the rest it's just me
