Rarely venture into the NL now but this seemed a slightly more appropriate place as this post is for my boyfriend who will not be competing any time soon!!
He really wants to learn to ride, but is more interested in classical principles than just learning to stay on. I think he'd get quite into dressage as he likes to think more about 'why' than just 'how'!
I suggested that it might be beneficial for him to have some lessons on one of the new riding simulator things (I have sat on one but know very little otherwise!) as then he could learn all about his position & get used to the gaits safely, and then transfer his knowledge onto the horse without spending numerous lessons bouncing about achieveing very little while some huge horse takes the mick out of him :p And at 6'4 he is going to need a reasonable sized horse...! Part of our other issue in finding a place for him to ride at the min.
I know that these are quite expensive, but seeing as he's mostly interested in the theory at the minute anyway, I figure it's worth some looking into. Does anyone know of places that do these lessons? I'm having a google now but bound to miss some and anywhere within a few hours drive of cheshire is a bonus!! :D Ideally 1-2 day courses unless close enough to go for a few lessons over a short period of time...

Thanks!

BettyBoo on here has had Mech Horse lessons close to Cheshire/Lancashire.

She has a Christmas name at the moment though, so not sure who she is.
She might be worth PM'ing ... she is Christmas_Fairy.

Second Heather Moffett if he wants to learn about the why's and how's. She is classically trained. You can YouTube her simulator. She had them built especially to simulate the two halves of the horses back so is more realistic than the solid ones.

Thank you everyone! I have sent an email to the lady in Knutsford (ideal!) and will give her a call if I haven't heard anything by the new year :) I would love to go to one of Heather Moffets courses myself but may have to save up first! :p
