Lethal horse fly bite

Anyone else heard about a strapping adult man who has died 15 minutes after being bitten by a horse fly.
Just heard it briefly on tv but didn't catch any more info than that.

Always vile things but are they now dangerous as well as annoying?

There was a post on facebook about it, apparently the gentleman got bitten on the neck, had a bad reaction and sadly died in the field.

What an awful thing. I knew some people were allergic to bee and wasp stings and could die from them but not heard the same could be true of horse fly bites.
Very worrying when you consider the number of horse fly bites per day compared to bee/wasp stings. Especially as there seem to be so many more of the vile things than usual this year.
