I have my first pony, a 12.2 (not sure what breed- feel free to suggest) gelding who is a little over 40. He's the worst behaved pony I have EVER had the pleasure of knowing (still), but will be with me forever!

Weve got a 25yr old Appyx who we bought in terrible condition 23yrs ago. He was a bag of bones, with rainscald. He was backed and schooled by my hubby. He has done a bit of everything, taught loads of people to ride. Now he is my youngest daughters horse, he has taken her for her first hacks alone and taught her loads. He really is one in a million!!

My arab (the grey in my siggy) was 33 this month.

I still hack him a couple of times a week - and he still jogs like a three year old.

He's almost completely deaf now and missing a lot of teeth (so is a s*d to keep weight on) but other than that is bright eyed and full of life and affection.

Deaf ..... now I have never ever heard of a Deaf horse .... I presume as he is still ridden, he copes well with it

Doesn't seem to bother him at all!

You have to make sure he sees you approaching him in the field otherwise he jumps when you touch him.

I think he feels the vibration of my voice when I'm on him as he turns an ear back if I speak - and proceeds to ignore me anyway!

My old connemara is 42. He still has to be handled in a bridle and jumps the stable door if he's left in for more than a few minutes
crazy.gif
He has had to have hard food this year for the first time since he stopped competing at 31 though
frown.gif

My old man Titch, 28 this year, grumpy as you like but always puts on a smile in the ring. Not able to ride him much at the moment as seems to have a soundness issue, although was galloping around the feel bold as you like today!

This is him last week qualifying for C&T Rider Showing Champs in Vets class, bless!! We are both grinning!!

He has spent most of his life jumping, and finally retired last year!

April is 23!

I started riding her 3 years ago after she had been retired in the field for a few years due to no-one wanting to put up with her bad behaviour. She was a poor miserable old soul who hated everyone and used to chase me around the stable lol.

Took a while but now I get on great with her and she has turned out really sweet!
Is still up for everything and still goes to unaff SJ, DR and some X country now and again.
She is a fab little horse, I love her to bits and I'm glad I can give her some fun in her old age!

She sometimes gets a little light in the winter but this is her last month:
