My winter field has become infested with Camomile (sp). I've always had some but this year looks like its covering the whole field. Which is probably my fault because instead of pulling it like I usually do I mowed it last year!

Anyway, you fountains of all knowledge , what is the best stuff to get rid of it. I have dock in another field so could do with getting rid of that too.

Willing to buy an on the back sprayer thingy.

Thanks in anticipation

Depitox is brilliant for all really bad weeds - thistles, dock etc It comes in 5 litre containers and you dilute it massively. I used something like 100ml in 10 litres of water and it was brilliant. I didn't have a sprayer so I used a watering can. Takes ages if you've got big areas to do but it DOES work. It's £18.79 for 5 litres from SCATS/Mole Valley Farmers.

The watering can is a really good idea

I use one of those hand-pump-back-pack jobs. They weigh a ton when full so you nearly topple over backwards - and you get RSI after pumping for half an hour!!

Must go get a watering can for my weedy fields!

I use Grazon 90 for docs, nettles & brambles in a backpack sprayer. I'd agree that it's jolly heavy when full - an incentive to get cracking & not dawdle in order to lighten the load!!

I use a mix of agritox and deppitox to control weeds including ragwort using a backpack sprayer. I think its the agritox that has 2-4-D to kill the old ragwort. Ragtimes active ingredient is 2-4-D too, its ready to use but works out exspensive compared to Agritox, I think its intended for spot treatment rather than spraying a whole field. Agritox has to be diluted with water and you need to wait 4-6 weeks before you can graze again, I would presume Ragtime would be the same.

Another good thing for spot treating is Barrier H, its citronella and you can see the ragworts go black in minutes - its also natural, downside is that its pricey, and its not selective (like depitox). I get mine from CWG. Barrier H is available on line, I buy mine direct as they are based in Norfolk. If in doubt go to your local agricultural merchants, they are a mine of information.
