Does anyone have any tips for how to remove the lettering off the side of horseboxes? The wagon I just bought used to belong to a farrier and had his name and phone number emblazoned on the side. I've managed to remove the big letters - they just peeled off - although I now have no fingernails left

but they have left a few greasy marks on the paintwork. The little numbers on the telephone line are really stuck fast and after 20 minutes or so I'd only managed to get 1 off.
Does anyone have any tips for how I get the numbers off or how I can remove the greasy marks from under the lettering?
Many thanks.

Try heating them up with a hairdryer the greasey marks will come off with paint thinners -this works well on sign written cars .

You should try this amazing stuff called GooGone which gets rid of the glue residue. It's American but you might be able to get it on the Internet.

As others have said, hot warm water should shift them. Also add some soda crystals to hot water and that should shift the grease easily. Also try Blu Tak, that's good for grease too though you might need a large lump!

Thanks - for some great ideas. I'm going up to the yard armed with my hair drier tonight - people will probably think I'm nuts! I've got some soda crystals at home to I'll try getting rid of the marks with that if I can before trying anything else. The lorry has a brand new paint job so I'm having to be ever so careful not to spoil it.
