Hi everyone I’m looking for a little bit of advice.
I have 2 pony’s and I’m looking for some help looking after them I’ve found a lady with 2 daughters who in exchange for mucking out grooming etc would like to ride once a week.
should I have them to sign a disclaimer? And what is the situation regarding insurance? I obviously have insurance but she is riding at her on risk off of my premises so should she have an accident I don’t want to be responsible, how does it work with this kind of situation?
thanks so much in advance

Disclaimers have absolutely no value in law. You need sufficient 3P insurance. You can ask, even require as part of a contract, that she carry rider insurance, but the bottom line is that you are liable.

The best thing to do is have a contract specifying the requirement for rider insurance. But also make sure your 3P is sufficient. Not the cheap / free stuff. Liability is strict in law - you need a decent cover BHS gold is £30M Harry hall - in contrast - is £10K.
