Levels of Dressage?

Can you dressage buffs out there point me in the right direction to find out all i need to know about the levels of dressage i.e level 1 level 2 etc as far as i was aware there are 4 but not althogether sure. How do these translate into our standard dressage classes?

im not quite sure what you mean.........you only get prelim/novice/elementary/medium/adv med/adv/PSG/inter I/inter II and GP........

Think i have answered my own question!

it appears to refer to the ability of the horse. Certain movements are given a certain level i.e medium walk = level 1 collected walk = level 2 extended walk = level 3. So if you were offered a level 3 horse you would know what movements a horse of that level is capable of. I think it is used mostly abroad.

I believe these levels are in USA. They do not do Prelim etc... but levels.. Have at look at US Web sites Dressage Today is a magazine which states this.

The levels are (starting with the lowest)

Prelim, Novice, Elementary, Medium, Advanced Medium, Advanced, Prix St Georges, Intermediare I, Intermediare II. Grand Prix.

The different levels are a U.S thing. They don't have Prelim etc there, they go by different levels.
