Well, the vet called me at 9am this morning to tell me that she had had a very good night, she had passed droppings as normal, and was a lot brighter in herself.
They put her on a drip to increase her fluid intake, she isn't a big drinker at the best of times so she gets herself a bit dehydrated.
They want her starved for a further 24hrs, fluids only.
He was really pleased with her progress and is positive everything is heading in the right direction.
They want to keep her in ICU for the time being to keep a close eye on her.

I went to visit her this afternoon, she was a bit quiet when i first arrived but she soon perked up when when i went in and started making a fuss of her, gave her a good groom and cleaned her up a bit.
Once the nurse had done her obs i was aloud to take her out for a walk and a few small mouthfuls of grass, she was totally back to normal once we got outside, i think she thought it was home time as she dragged me over to the lorry park and was marching round whinnying!

I didn't get chance to speak to the vet this evening but i did have a few words in passing with the surgeon who also saw her last night and he said he was pleased to say we are heading in the right direction

I am a lot happier about the whole situation tonight, hopefully i will be able to eat something this evening and perhaps even get an hour or two's sleep!

I shall post a further update tomorrow, until the i'm keeping my fingers firmly crossed for good news!

Thanks for the update Fairyclare. Fingers crossed that your girl will be home soon. My veteran had a similar "gassy colic" scare about 10 days ago and it was terrifying. He was very sweaty and grunting in pain with every breath. Luckily, he had already started to sort himself out before the vet got there. My wonderful YO tells me that at one point he laid down and then let out the most incredibly loud, wall-rattling fart you've ever heard and he was a little easier after that. When the vet arrived, she checked all his vital signs and gave him an injection of Buscopan which is a gut relaxer, not a pain killer. Thank god, within 10 minutes he was more or less his old self again. One thing that might help your ned is Coligone liquid. H Bradshaws make it and they are very customer focussed. I rang at lunchtime one day and the syringe and a small bottle was delivered by my postman at midday the very next day! The Marketing lady for Coligone is a member of this forum - H's Mum - she signs herself as Coligone Kate and she is VERY knowledgeable and helpful xxx

I am relieved, i still feel a bit nervous, got that horrid churning feeling in the pit of my stomach.

I have PM'ed H's Mum about getting her on to coligone, that was one of the 1st things i did this morning

We aren't quite out of the woods but we are at least moving in the right directions
