Has anyone got one? With all this rain and mud I'm thinking about getting one of the ones that converts into a headcollar. It just seems a really good idea and much easier to clean than my posh patent bridle, plus I like really bright colours and could get one in a jaunty orange

Has anyone got one? Are they easy to clean? And they look a bit flimsy in pics, what are they like in the flesh? I'd like one with reins, but I did wonder if they would be uncomfortable or rub my hands if my horse took a pull etc?

Years ago I got a Libby's web bridle for each horse to use in wet weather - worked really well and I just stuck them in the washer (in a cushion cover, minus bit) to get them clean

You could look for zilco bride's or pioneer harness (endurance) they are good bridles to use when it's wet, I use both for endurance as they are constantly getting wet. Pioneer ones have a huge colour chart to choose from!

I've got a Libby's Scrawbrig (red ). I bought it second hand, to give bitless a go and it seems sturdy enough yet soft and comfortable. I certainly wouldn't have any qualms about using it but can't attest to it's durability.

All sounds positive! But I am just so, so, so sick of everything I use or even tough being filthy dirty and wet! Hes not even in work at the minute as hes having physio after a badly fitting saddle, but one look at the other people on the yard tells me it will only get worse once I start riding again!

My SS got me a really lovely bright orange saddle cloth to go with my gold and orange sparkly browband. So as I have no shame about bright colours, I quite fancy an easily cleanable bright orange bridle

I had one once, for all the reasons you state. Only used it once, to ride and lead with. The lead horse pulled back and the pins on the cheek piece buckles pulled through. I didn't realise until the horse opened his mouth and the bit fell out.

I was very disappointed. (And alarmed, as we were on the main road at the time)

The buckles rust really quickly unless you put wd40 on every time they get wet & the rubber on the reins wore off mine in a few months. Really disappointed, try the endurance plastic bridles, come in bright colours & v hard wearing (can also get leather look colours if you want a traditional look)

Hi, look at the Norton synthetic bridles, they do an orange one http://www.countrybase.co.uk/proddetail.asp?prod=Norton-Synthetic-Bridle

I've got one for each pony, the oldest one being 10years old and still going strong... I use them as everyday bridles and never had a problem. However due to reins having rubber I never put these in the washing machine, but I do the rest of the bridle.
