Decided to clip Monty today and im so glad i did, took first bit off and instantly saw lice

, he had them last winter so i have been checking his mane as thats where i noticed them last time but have seen none til this today

Are some horses just prone to getting them? as none of my others have them and i don't know where he gets them from.
All horses on yard are being louse powdered now but we all doubt they have them.
On a good note i decided to clip half his head and he was good

, blades did not want to go through his thick coat well, no pics of that yet.

Sorry turned out longer than i expected.

Well a thick coat means lots of places for lice to hide! Louse powder is not terribly effective for persistant recurrance. Your best bet may be to get something stronger from vet.

He looks gorgeous by the way!!!!

I will be getting something else for him but was too late to be ringing the vets so have just used louse powder for tonight and will be giving him a bath insecticidal (sp) shampoo.
thanks
