yeah clean out the stable, do you use starw as that often harbours lice, my coloured used to get them bad in the winter and i tried everything, but as soon as her summer coat came she wouldnt have any, i asked my vet wat to do and he said it can be an on going battle, the best stuff is frontline, but its not liscenced for horses and can be very expensive to put on horses.

Yes, you will need to clean and scrub your stable and all your grooming kit. Any other animal that has been in contact also needs treating.
I have an excellent Equine Specialist vet who advised me to use the Lincoln Louse Powder that says not to be used on animals. It is perfectly safe, very effective and much cheaper than Frontline.

Gold Label do a good powder for cattle & horses I think its only about £5 a pot Scats stock it, 2 of my girls had lice after they went in to a different field? But the vet did say that older horses are prone to lice, not that the old one has had them since & that must be 5 years ago! Felt a bit of a fool though, though they must have some kind of skin infection didn't think about lice!! But yes do clear out your stable especially if you have wooden boards, I would try chuck some powder up the walls for a couple of days before you disinfect them. & don't forget silly things like your head collar!
