Hi, I'm hoping someone can help as I've been given conflicting advise and I'm not sure how to treat. Long story....sorry!
Basically I have 3 ponies, 1 is almost 30 and I have had him as a companion for my riding horse and have owned him for a couple of years, real sweetie but costs me a fortune in vets bills as is very colic prone! The 3rd a little 3 year old rescue pony arrived in the spring in foal!
Anyway a few weeks ago the old pony had some bald patches on his back that were weeping and bleeding a little...was told to treat as ringworn so used imaverol and it improved and dried up etc. Now its back with hair loss under his mane and legs along with the 3 year old who has hair loss but no scabs or anything. Now need to treat for lice and was looking at using deosect but really worried about using it on the pony with weeping scabs.
Sorry for such a long post....any ideas?
Thanks loads to anyone who has read this far! x

I would second using coopers fly repellent plus> It's pretty much just silicone very much the same as human lice treatments and is very effective.
It does have quite a strong citrus fragrance so you might need to be a bit careful around broken skin as I'd imagine it would sting.

coopers is very good but I'm not sure I'd want to put it onto broken skin to be honest. It's got permithrine in I think which is fine on skin as it isn't really absorbed but would be concerned about putting it on to broken skin as it would have more direct access to the blood stream that way:confused:
