The horses my boy shares a field with, have lice (think thats what they are).
I can't see any on mine. but being palomino - they are going to be hard to spot.

Any tips on how to treat, please, as never had to deal with them before

I use Coopers Spot On. This is an off label recommendation and thus should be noted that some horses may have a reaction. Very quick and easy to do and very effective. Ivermectin will not effect the biting louse only the sucking variety.

Are you sure they are lice and not midges? What do they look like?

Using louse powder will only deter lice, it will not kill them. Every vet I have spoken to say the same and recommend Frontline (dogs). Treat twice with a 2 week period between treatments.

Dont forget to wash brushes, tack, rugs etc and disinfect stable doors and wooden posts.

I think what we used on my cob years ago was called diosect, they still sell it, its very very strong, my mother breathed some in when we where spraying him with it, and was layed up in bed for 3 days all her body swelled up, nasty, so be careful if you get this.

Diluted Deosect applied using a sponge! Applied once and then again 14 days later, It kills all known lice - DEAD! I bought my tin of Deosect from the local farm suppliers. One tin goes an awful long way, too. I also used louse powder sprinkled inside all my rugs.
