Help?
My horse does not stop licking me or any thing attached to me after a treat and quite often with no treat at all.
He licks mainly skin but if you turn away a coat will do as did my rubber boot for about 10mins the other day, I owuld like to think its love but more often any human will do although I am 1st choice

He has a well balanced diet (IMO) alfa a oil, dodson and horrell build up mix and speedibeet, with hay or haylage depending on the time of day, grass (nearly obviously) he gets lots of carrotts, apples in his feed too. He has a mineral lick in his box and eats straw as well

Is he just super grateful and affectionate or do I need to find the missing thing? He will lick my hand clean and then go back for more 10mins later........I just want to make sure he is not deficient in something?

Mine is exactly the same after a sweet has been given to him by hand - not after he's eaten it out of a bucket though

will lick his stable door, me, coat, rug, anything in reach for around 10 mins then give up - strange

He's always done it and never had anything amiss on bloods when taken - is now 19 and has done since he was 4

mine does lick after treats but her worst thing is salt licks! I have to limit her to salt licks as she just wont leave them alone, she goes into a trance and licks big holes in them, if i left one in with her she would demolish it within days!

my yearling always licked me , so i got her a salt lick ,she wasnt very interested in that but still carried on licking me or any other human near enough.
