Things are so strange, read on and let me know what you think.

I was playing Mahjong on my laptop, there are 6 grids you can play and usually I do each one either on the first attempt or within 3. Last night one particular grid just wouldn't let me win.. I played it about 12 times to no avail. Eventually at 12 midnight I was tired and decided to quit. I just happened to look at my phone to see a message from a mate saying her horse had colic again. (He had colic on Thursday and again last night)

Then another message to say he was being walked to the field to be put to sleep.

I said why and it was because they had no transport and he was in a lot of pain and unfair to risk him dying anyway. I said I would get my trailer out if the vet said ok. We got the horse to the vet surgery in Newmarket to be operated on and I finally got back home at 5am. Stayed up and went and fed my horses and friends at 7am, hback hime I was restless and never got to sleep until 10am. woke again at 2pm feeling really ill.

Here is the eerie bit.

1) Usually I and everyone else is finished at the horses field by 4pm this day I left at 4.45pm and friend arrived at 5pm to find her horse not right and in pain. If we'd left the field at the usual time her horse would have died in pain that night.

2) Did some powers make me keep playing that game of Mahjong till midnight keeping me awake, I usually go to bed aroung 9 - 9.30am. If I'd gone to bed the usual time I'd not have seen the message until too late

3) When I got home at 5am I decided for the sake of 2 hrs to stay awake and go feed the horses in the field. To pass the time I decided to play this game again,,, I beat it first time... makes, what was it that stopped me completing the game last night when previously and this morning I did it straight away?

I'd like to think something was doing all they could to save this horse, what ... I don't know but the good news is that the horse has had surgery and is doing fine and will stay at the veterinary for a few weeks.

At first even the vets thought they were going to have to put the horse to sleep in the trailer as he was in so much pain.

So it was great news to hear he'd come through the surgery and was doing as well as expected.

I will never forget the look of pain in the horses eyes and feeling totally helpless while the vet team did all they could.

Sorry for the long post and cookies for reading to the end.

I feel ill as this has really took it out of me and I have only managed a few hrs sleep.

it's like Sliding Doors isn't it (for those of you who have seen the film)
Strange things happen, it's a good job you were around for this poor horse - glad he's come through the surgery, he's obviously got somebody looking out for him x

i hve always had a very strong belief that there is a reason for everything and that everything happens for a reason......sometimes u cant always see the reason, but in time, it becomes clear. u saved that horse's life. now go look after urself, u deserve some pampering. hope u feel better soon x

now no doubt many are going to think your mad! but a couple of years ago, i was at work one day,id had a big row with the husband it was a wonderful sunny day and i thought stuff it im going to fake sickness and go for a nice long hack,

Got to horses field and as i was unlocking the gat my horse kind of neighed at me.. which it never done, dropped stuff and went to look, he couldnt stand up, every time he stopped moving hes back end went, vet out and all that,

if i hadnt of gone of sick what would i of found 6 hours later.. also because of the need of the horse it brought me and hubby back together.. .

what an amazing thing you did, fantastic. I certainly believe 'something' stopped you leaving at usual time and staying up late...
my hubby's sheep were due to lamb (we didn't know when tho!) and he had a funny feeling yesterday so went down to the field (2 miles away) even though he's done the sheep for the day, and lo and behold, there was a newborn lamb! It obviously needed shelter etc, and it was freezing so if he hadn't got the funny feeling and gone down, who knows what would've become of it.
I am glad to hear a happy ending from you. Hope you catch up on sleep tonight.

This was all meant to be as it happened. I'm a firm believer in fate and you were definitely kept up for a reason. Glad to hear the horse is on the mend and bearing up through these crucial hours.

Istrongly believe now that it is important to trust your instincts.
If i had done this then i would not have bought a dangerous rearing horse!
After i viewed him i was driving home.I was going over in my head whether i should buy him or not.As i pulled up at the roundabout i suddenly noticed the car in front had a personalised number plate it read S4AY N0.
I shook it off and told myself to stop being silly if only id taken notice i wouldent be in the situation im in now.
Either that or i have the worst luck when it comes to buying horses.
Well done for all you did for your friend and her horse its nice to know that there are still some kind honest people out there.

Good for you and yes, sometimes thease things happen, not alway's the right way round, as the other day I was thinking about calling my friend who had breast cancer over 5 years ago but is ok now and then got diagnosed with MS 4 years ago. I happen to be thinking what would happen to her if her husband died. I then get this phone call from her telling me that her husband has just been diagnosed with lung cancer....... we both just cried on the phone :-(

Stranger things have happened - but not many.

I hope the horse makes a full recovery. You went way over and above and are a very good friend indeed.

All fingers crossed your friend's horse recovers well from the op. She has a great friend in you without a doubt. I always seem to be around when things happen at our yard which spooks me out a bit but then I keep thinking maybe it one day will be for a reason and it will become clear. Either that or I'm just up there way too much! Hope you get a good night's sleep tonight.

Similar story with not a good out come. A friend of mine had an old horse, friend was walking around the field checking for ragwort etc. Beautiful day, her mare came over to her from other side of field had a cuddle from friend then laid down next to friend and passed away.........If friend weren't there she wouldn't of got the chance to say goodbye.

yep, I definitely think that was fate..
Good story, and I was so pleased you were able to help, that was a lucky horse. so so glad to read it.
