Well Sweep - my spaniel - is now 12 years old and while still fit and healthy is begining to show his age in little ways and it has become apparent in the last couple of weeks that his hearing is definatley going. He doesn't hear me come in the house, hear the car come home etc etc

This afternoon, however, it would appear thet he is using it for his own evil ends - the little b*gger has just run

past me with a half empty box of Ritz biscuits in his mouth and is now out in the garden munching his way through them!!!

Is ignoring me when I call him 'I'm deaf now don't you know....'

but his bloody eyes are working well enough as are his legs 'cos every time he sees me coming he runs off again

....Grrr............

PMSL little devil - joys of the world of old dog ownership

When Barney got old he decided it was far too nippy for him to be hanging around in the garden doing a wee before bed, so he started wandering up the garden, hiding for a few seconds behind the shed, then coming back down without ever having gone!

When he gt really old he started forgetting what he had gone out there for in the first place bless him, which he also used for his own evil ends when he didn't fancy doing something

my spaniel is the same, she is 12. When I let her out she never hears me call her back unless I call the word biscuit or dinner !!!!!. However she is going a little deaf. I know this because she does'nt hear me get up every morning !

my dog was 12 in june and i have to say he is amazing but i am sure its just he thinks he is only 3. he is a JRT cross norfolk terrier and a total loon.
i still call him puppy and he always will be

My old man is the same

he even stands at the steps to our back door wanting help up, i always help him however the other day i had a go at hubby cos i thought he had left him upstairs only to be told he thought we had both gone in the car and he flew upstairs

not bad for 17 and hip displasia
