Ok, so I am selling my horse to buy another one I can do shows and dressage with, eventhough I havnt sold mine yet I've fallen in love with another. Hes a 16.2 warmblood. The owner has been very honest with me, and told me that 2 years ago he strained his check ligament in right fore. He didn't tear it and wasn't off work for very long in terms with other cases i've heard. Since then she hasnt done much jumping as shes nervous to do so, eventhough the injury was down to bad shoeing she says. I am really not too fussed about jumping and has done dressage since his accident with no problem. Should I stay away from him? Help!

I wouldn't buy a horse that I knew had had check ligament problems. Is the owner nervous to jump since because of the injury or because she doesn't do jumping? Even dressage puts a strain on legs. I don't think a vet would pass it either.

I've known a number of horses who've had check ligament strains and never had a problem once they were fixed, and they jump too. I would buy her if she passes the vet. Ask the owner if she will pay for an ultrasound scan to make double sure she isn't trying to get rid of a problem horse.
