I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with ligament injuries in the foot.
My friends gelding went lame, vet suspected an abscess. Could get a reaction with hoof testers on the inside heel of the foot (left fore), but no-where else. Vet had a dig but can't find a thing. He was xrayed extensivley (as then suspected pedal bone fracture) but everything came up clean. Therefore vets reckon either a very deep abscess thats having trouble bursting out, or a ligament tweak in the foot. There was heat in the foot in the same area that they got reaction from hoof testers, but 3 days later heat has decreased, and there is just some heat by the coronet band.
Has anyone heard of an abscess this deep taking a couple of weeks to burst? She is panicking as she is competitive and he will need resting for up to 3 months if it is a ligament. Anyone have tips on dealing with injuries to ligaments in the foot? Many thanks
