I posted last week about my horse that napped at a show resulting in us being eliminated. I discussed this with the area SJ trainer and opted to take her over to her today to assess her loose schooled over fences.

Her impressions were that she has a good technique, great canter and is quick thinking and gets herself oout of trouble. However she feels is pressurised she will revert to rearing to we are now going to have lessons with her and no shows until she is confidently wanting to take me into any fence and filler.

I am just pleased that she thinks we can progress and that I do have a horse that is happy to SJ, just a little insecure

I am keeping my fingers crossed as she is a lovely mare admittedly quirky but when she is confident jumping etc she is by far the best horse i've had the privilege of owning

Sorry I missed your post before.

But just wanted to add that I know of a horse with very similar issues. The people who has taken the horse on has worked wonders and they have been getting fantastic double clears out SJing. This is from a horse that reared and had been totally scared and was about to be PTS - so it can be done.

Am so impressed at the turnaround in this horse - hope the same will happen for you

Thanks for that. She had come from a SJ, been sold on and then returned to the SJ after 3 month so she was quirky. This trainer said that all pro SJ have a knack of getting the green baby horses over BN courses yet someone like me would struggle and have issues. We have to learn to work as a team
