Hey,

Just had to share!!!

Well, rob broke his knees last september, very badly, resulting in him being stuck on box rest for two months, then was incredibly sore in the extreme cold bless him!!

He was also diagnosed as having a funny eye thing which swells up every now and then, and then he had a really bad slip and fall in the ice, meaning he badly pulled his shoulder, and was really sore for quite a few weeks afterwards.

Then I tried to bring him back into work, only to find he was still lame on one of his knees.

After an investigation by the vet, including X-rays, he concluded that it's a result of scar tissue...

ANYWAY, to shorten the story, I have to basically ride him Through it, and it's taken two weeks of gradually building up walking distance, and he is gradually getting sounder each time now :-)

Today we were out for a full hour and 40 mins, he was forward going and almost completely sound :D :D :D

And I can finally think about getting him back and doing the summer, after 6 long, long months!!!

Sorry, this is a completely pointless post, I had to gush- I feel like I've finally got my little horsey back!!!

Thats really good news for you. Know how you feel, my mare has recovered from a tear to her DDFT and initially the prognosis wasnt good. Shes doing very well now Im happy to say, hope it continues to be good news for you.

Very pleased for you both, c&c it sounds like you have had an awfull time and fingers crossed the light is well and truly turned on and you steam towards it at full speed!!

Im sorry to hear about your mare too, Izzwizz, hopefully she'll come right soon though :D Out of interest what's the DDFT? (I'm probably being really blonde now!!)

And thank you, it's been a long, long winter but I think we're finally well on our way!! :D poor Robs really not had a good time of it this year :-(

Haha yeah lol. It's more annoying cause he is just fit enough that he was starting to enjoy working again as well!!!

Poor boy :-(

Argh!!!!!

Ah ok!!

I think that's the tendon rob's just blown!! Typical!! And he was going so well :-(

At least your mare's on the mend!! :-) How long has it taken her to finally come right out of interest?

Her tear was hard to diagnose, was found when she had an MRI scan in the end. She had egg bar shoes with wedges inserted to begin with on, and from it being diagnosed in Sept 2009 she was sound by summer 2010. She had a re-scan at the end of Jan 2010 and the tear had healed a lot but was still there. Vet advised to get her back into ridden work but stay stabled until summer turnout in May. She was then turned out full time on a bald paddock as have to weight watch her too - shes high maintainance. We did lots and lots and lots of walking out on the roads. Its a long process of healing and repair but its worth it, does test your patience but my horse is better than ever now.
