Does anyone know, when travelling in the dark should the internal light in a trailer be on or off. Is there a law that says you should or shouldn't? We've got an Equitrek so the light is situated at the back and quite subtle unlike in an Ifor where the light is at the front and more visible from behind. We'd like to travel with it on but don't want to break any laws, or do horses not really mind travelling in the dark?

You cannot have a white light showing at the rear of the trailer. I have a side loading horsebox with high windows at the back, we have a light that switches between white and blue led, I switch it to the blue when travelling gives enough light to me to see the horses on the internal camera but shows very little from the windows - if that makes sense

I’ve been wondering this lately too! Seen a few in the eve travelling with their lights on. I don’t but haven’t driven in the dark for years. I wondered if it was to stop the glare from traffic for the horse ?‍♀️ is that why or some other reason?

I have never travelled with the light on in a trailer, was always told you were not meant to, this was in the UK and same here in NZ. I only put the light on when loading in the pitch dark, then it goes off when I drive off. Horses have really good night vision so it is not for their benefit.
