Anyone any knowledge of this treatment or experience, our physio has suggested "giving it a go". Ash is on the whole much better but still has the odd days which seem to set him back and she is still uncertain if these "wobbles" are from muscle wastage due to the injury or a more degenerative muscle or nerve wastage, either way thankfully they don't seem to cause him any pain or upset they are just distressing to see but he is now going weeks at a time without any wobble then just one or 2 small ones then good again for a few weeks???

I've used red laser on a horse. Days I used it swelling was less than days I didn't, it certainly did something. You can buy red laser units on eBay.

Thanks ycbm, I saw that you can get the light therapy ones on amazon for the same price as 7 sessions at the vets and it has really positive reviews but I never know how much to trust amazon reviews lol

Well my OH is an electrical wizard and bought six of the diodes (?) from China and wired them into one unit to treat a giant knee on a kicked horse. I used it every night while he was eating and it was pretty clear when I missed a day, so they really did seem to be working. The other knee got kicked the following year, same result. There was no massage involved, just running the lightv over the surface lightly, so it pretty much had to be the laser light doing it. I'd use it again, and I'm not a one for gadgets or hearsay. It's a shame you're in Wiltshire, I'd lend you mine as it's not being used atm, to save you buying one. My physio will hire one out, is that a cheaper option?

My dad asked what I wanted for my birthday the other day so I sent him the amazon link and asked to go half's so at 50% off it seems worth taking a punt, can always resell on ebay if it doesn't help. It's so annoying that the vets have been less than useless with his back injury so don't know if I'm treating a neurological issue (he does pass all their tests to say it's not that but maybe it only happens in certain circumstances?), muscle wastage from injury (the improvement aften the chiro treated his pelvis was massive so their was definitely an injury) or degenerative muscle wastage which could be how he was injured in the first place. The ads for the llt device seem to say they help with all of these things so hey ho....

We have a woman at work who is certified in canine rehab and she does a lot of laser and it seems to really help. The surgeons also like to have post-op patients receive laser treatments every 12 hours until the animal goes home.

We have a Photizo Vet for the Labradors, it seems to help with inflammation and overused muscles. We use it alternate days when needed. The unit was recommended by a very well regarded vet physio.
