My youngster has recently taken to leaning over the stable door and playing with the exterior light switch. Every morning over Christmas I have arrived at the stables to find all the lights on including the floodlight. To move the switch would be a big job and I just wondered if anyone could suggest where I could buy a metal guard which could be screwed into the wall and so protect the light switch from munching teeth.

It doesn't have to be a metal guard we rigged up an empty ice-cream container (blue plastic one) over the tap a certian-mare-who-was-old-enough-to-know-better took to turning on everynight.

Put in 2 little hooks (out of reach) and hung the container from them. She couldn't get her teeth on/round the container to pull it off.

you could get a really cheap mailbox (grill type for inside doors to stop dogs eating post) in a DIY store - or just fix a piece of wood between the horse and the switch to stop him reaching it

best and safest long term solution is to get an electrician to move the switches out of reach. it is not a big job, and would be done quickly and shouldn't be very expensive as its only relocation not supply and fit.

ummm sorry either move the switch or buy the specific switch protectors to protect your horse - you are talking about electricity here so not only can horse electrocute self but also possible fires - personally i would pay to move the switch end of story

Thanks for your replies. Short term I will cover up the switch but agree that the switch needs moving for safety reasons.
