Hi guys.*I'm considering selling my car and investing in a trailer and 4x4. I don't want to spend loads. The easily maintainable 4x4's are the Freelanders, but they've been slated on horsey websites for towing. Their towing capacity is 2000kg. So I'd need a very light trailer to pull 2 horses (15.1 each).*
Does anyone know of a lightweight double trailer? Or a decent 4x4 that won't cost the earth?

Thanks

Freelanders have been slated for their poor towing ability. People are drawn to them because their running costs are cheaper than many 4x4s. There are no good 4x4s that are cheap to run in reality. They are thirsty on fuel & exoensive to tax & unless you are a mechanic be ready for the maintenance bills.

As for lightweight trailers Bateson are good, I had one & carried a 16h1" & a 16h2" nicely. There was plenty of height for them however I towed with a Discovery & later with a LWB Pajero. The Batesons are a quality build, some of the other lightweight trailer don't feel very sturdy.
