As we appear to be having a sunny spell at the moment, I just wondered what people tend to wear to the yard in warmer weather, and appropriate yard attire when it's hot. (...so I can sort out my shopping list for Badminton :D). I do remember when I was younger going for the muckers and shorts combo but wasnt sure if that's the done thing now i'm grown up!

Was slogging round in my hunters yesterday and must admit my feet got rather hot!

I generally look a state, but my warm weather wear is summer jods for riding, shorts if not, jod boots and long sleeved cotton top. Trendy eh, but safe and covered??! I do need to improve on the shorts and jod boot combo, talk about making me look 'sturdy!! Not sure what to put on my feet though that are safe around horses but don't look as butch with shorts, will watch this thread with interest! Deck shoes around here seem to be a popular look, but not sure if I like it tbh?
Now, if you are one of the little blond hotties that frequent the yard then you would be wearing hot pants, vest and a pair of toms!!

Thankfully I have my boys at home. It was 26c+ today, I'm going about in shorts, vest and bright pink crocs :p
Three happy ponies bathed and pampered, paddock cleaned and now I have a glass of ice cold wine in my hand and admiring my work. Its a hard life :D

Ha! As little as possible:D Thank god i'm on a tiny yard where nobody cares about spare tyres:D I decided a long time ago to grow old as disgracefully as possible!

Before I share what I wear let me assure the more fainthearted amongst you that I have my own yard and there is only me and my horses and dogs!!
For riding breeches and a vest top, I have a bum bag for my phone. For yard work, shorts and vest top, (if it's really hot a bikini top ). I know I'll get jumped on for this but often wear flip flops too. Feet look delightful after a day in shavings, dust, etc.

We have ours at home so....whatever you want! I will own up to having poo picked the field in a bikini and wellies....:p

bikini top and shorts with tough work trainers if the girls are in, crocs if not. Had them at home til recently so often just a bikini and crocs then. now at a small yard so adding shorts this year so as not to frighten anyone!! Always decent boots when handling the youngsters, happy riding in shorts as long as I have decent footwear and my lower legs covered (pinchy stirrups) I do wear a vest top to hide the less than perfect tummy and jods or leggings if I am going out hacking though!! As teens we didn't and nearly caused various accidents, we were thinner then! Always my hat but I only wear BP to jump and have to confess to being less likely to wear it on B if it's hot.

Jods and some form of Joules polo t-shirt but usually have a string vest top underneith so I can strip down to that if I fancy topping up my tan :D

Tend to ride in chaps in summer rather than a full leather boot.

One thing I do struggle with when it's hot is lack of pocket space so I always have gillet on which I take off and hang outside my stable, which Mackenzie usually tends to chuck on the floor:rolleyes:

I wouldn't torture any poor soles with my legs in a pair of shorts though, gosh even my horses would turn the other cheek and pretend to not know me.:D

Shades, always have a spare pair of shades at the yard, saves your eyes, prevents frown lines and grooming dust getting in your eyes and hides a hangover face perfectly :D

Shorts and chinks! Chinks are what this lady is wearing here -

Shorts and either my pink hunter wellies or crocks or flip flops :D and either a joules/polo type shirt or vest top. And on some super hot days I'll chuck my bikini on under, walk down to the yard (our own private) and strip off there as I have to walk through the village to get there :D and then sunbathe with the ponies lying down with me and use them as a headrest :D

My horses have always been kept at home so I usually just wear a bikini if I've been sunbathing in the garden before hand! Although I am allergic to horses, and my current horse seems to give me a worse reaction than my others, so am having to wear long sleeves at the mo to help prevent the rash on my arms :(
Think I will be enduring the rash when it gets really hot though, riding is the best time to get a good tan! :D

Jods the lightweight summer variety with a buttoned shirt and vest top underneath in case it gets too sweaty and i'm doing hot chores. Polo shirts are also a staple.

I don't like to expose too much flesh, I think one has to keep ones modesty about them and also consider safety.

Oh and short boots and jods, I keep some slipons at the yard incase we get invited in for sherry when it's nice :)

Can I have her horse please? He would complement my younster ideally, as a slightly darker shade of buckskin!
Find jeans much less sticky to ride in than jods and swap between long sleeves and substantial bra for riding to strappy top and flimsy bra for everything else!

Today - strappy top, shorts and trainers, and I've ridden two in that outfit. As several others have said, I keep mine at home so there isn't really anyone to offend with my spare tyres and lily white legs. Mind you four deliveries turned up today but they don't know me and I'll never see them again so I don't care. I'm happily growing old disgracefully.

Oh dear, warm weather brings out my scruffy side :p
I tend to wear denim cut offs and converse for riding, shorts and flip flops if I'm just checking on her. I also have a horribly embarrassing photo (thanks dad!) of me climbing out of the field in my PJs and flip flops, fly spray in one hand, when the horses were grazing in the field outside our house :o

For the first time since September I wore a strappy top to the yard! I usually wear my thin jodhpurs and boots or muckers if its not overly hot and shorts sometimes if it's really hot, although it doesn't really get very hot in cumbria :P

Usually shorts/denim cut offs/rolled up trackies with vest top or polo shirt, with scruffy espadrilles or similar.
For polo in summer I always wear this, + chaps for riding, and bikini top underneath.
Nothing like looking smart for riding  :D

For yard stuff I often wear vest top, shorts and Dubarrys! As it gets even hotter i swap the Dubarry's for heavy duty walking trainers.

Riding I always wear jods and try to wear a long sleep top as i am allergic to virtually every plant (except grass) but do sometimes ride with no sleeves but have to do neat manouveres to ensure i don't touch any overhanging plants/trees/bushes.

Comfort comes before style!:)

When riding always jods or actually joggers for light hacks and a vest top.

Around the yard noone sees me but the poor horses, unless anient nextdoor neighbours venture out which is rarely normally short and bikini top and flipflops. Although shove some boots on if I;m generally doing something with the horses.
No bikini this year until ive really slimmed so vest top will do.

Have been occasions at my old yard when walkers passed the field and Iv'e dived behind a hedge or tree if there nice looking and ive got nothing on, must to the confusion of the ponies hehe.

normally jeans/jods and a skimpy tee or vest top. has to be mega hot for me to wear my shorts and i'd normally wear my long toggis or short jod boots.
i wore shorts, jod boots a skinpy vest top and bikini top out riding last year one day and made the mistake of going past a pub full of drunken men....NEVER AGAIN!!! :o:o:o:o "wish you were riding me love!!"
so the bikini is totally out of the question for riding now(the twins are rather large and bounce around a lot :D), i would wear it down at the yard i too am on my own but i wouldn't care anyway and not forgetting the Ray bans :cool:
i want more of this nice weather!!

Fair Play !

Warm weather clothes for me is still my breeches, a clean long sleeved white Tee, boots and gaitors, bit different for me as a full time instructor - not too sure if my clients would like the shorts and crocs look !
oh and sporting Factor 30 sun cream already ! Red Hair and fair skin ! not good ;-(
