Lightweight plus size jodhpurs?

I'm planning to get back into riding after several years off due to physical health issues, which have also led to me gaining quite a bit of weight so I'm now a size 18-20. I'm struggling to find any jodhpurs that fit - all of the 18s that I've tried have been MUCH too small, so I'm guessing that most jodhpurs tend to come up on the small side since most of the normal trousers and jeans that I wear are 18s, with a few in size 20. I don't want to spend tons of money on new jodhpurs, as I don't yet know whether I'll be able to continue riding regularly, but none of the places I've bought them from before at reasonable prices have anything that fits me. Ideally I'd like a pair of lightweight/summer jodhpurs. Does anyone have any recommendations for websites/companies that I could try?

try decathlon, i got the fouganza training mesh jodhpurs as they were recommended on here, and they are very comfy and lightweight. they are £32,99 so not too expensive. they only go up to 18 but as they are very stretchy they may be fine..

I have decathlon mesh jods, I went for an EU44 US M and they fit lovely, I am a 16 so the next size up should fit!. Like most women's clothes riding gear varies widely in size!

Thanks for the quick replies both of you. I saw the Decathlon ones on their website and liked the look of them, but I'd tried a couple of their jods in an 18 in the shop (they didn't have the lightweight ones) and they were too small so I assumed all of theirs would be. The ones I tried weren't particularly stretchy though, so maybe the mesh ones you suggested might be OK. Certainly worth ordering some to try, anyway. Fingers crossed!

Incidentally, is there any real difference between men's and women's jods? Wondering if men's might be more likely to be available in larger sizes. I'm fairly tall, so length wouldn't be an issue if men's are just the same but longer.

Well, I ordered some of Decathlon's mesh jods, but the biggest size they do were still too small on the waist :(
It's a real shame, they were otherwise very comfy and seemed like they'd be great for warm weather.
I've looked at the Fuller Fillies ones and there'd definitely be some that would fit, but they don't seem to do any lightweight ones. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Saxon do some - I think they're the 'warm up' cotton jods - reasonably light weight, stretchy and comfy (I'm sat here wearing them as I type), and they're a size 18. If it helps, I'm an 18 in Next jeans...

Sadly the Dublin ones only go up to an 18 which is apparently a 36" waist, which I know won't fit. It's looking like it's not possible to be both fat and not too hot when it comes to jods!

I'm really grateful to everyone who has taken the time to reply, thank you!
Unfortunately I still haven't found anything that's both lightweight and a large enough size though. It really is ridiculous - Decathlon's 48 was too small (what do these sizes even mean?! I definitely don't have a 48" waist!) and none of the "plus size" brands seem to come in a lightweight style. There are definitely some ordinary jods out there that should be big enough so I'll get some of them for when the weather is cooler, but I'd really like some lighter ones for summer. I always get very warm when I'm riding, so if anyone knows of a company that hasn't been mentioned yet that does jods that are both lightweight and a large size, let me know!

I've picked up some shires jods at Go Outdoors for about £20 that are decent sizes - I'm similar to you and they're fine for me with some good stretch

Have a look at Hope Valley online and the brand Montar, they do plus size breeches (think they go up to a 24). Hope Valley normally have end of season on offer so much cheaper as otherwise they are a fairly expensive brand. They sometimes come up on ebay and another company called WB Equiline can order in and sometimes have deals on. I'm an 18 and wear Pikeur (favourites are the Lucinda as I'm short, lol), expensive but worth it because they are so much more flattering on my size than cheaper jods.

Just an update - after totally failing for ages to find any jods that were both my size AND lightweight, I've finally managed to find some! I was taking back the jods I'd ordered from Decathlon that didn't fit, and I thought I'd have a look at what other jods they had just on the off chance there'd be something that was right for me. I found these ones https://www.decathlon.co.uk/accessy-light-jodhpurs-grey-id_8383400.html which I'd seen on the website, but they didn't have the largest size in stock when I ordered the other ones and I didn't bother going back to check since the ones I ordered all turned out to be too small so I assumed these ones would be as well. But no! They are REALLY stretchy so they even fit over my fat a$$! They're incredibly lightweight AND only £19.99, admittedly they're without a doubt the least flattering thing I've ever worn in my life - the fabric is really thin, it feels almost like swimsuit material, so it shows EVERY lump and bump and you can clearly see my pants through them - but I reckon I can get away with them if I wear a long t-shirt :)
Happy days...
So if you're a size 20-ish and you're having trouble finding summer jods to fit, give these ones a try!

Just a quick comment to the post above about Montar jods - I'd already found the Decathlon ones so I haven't looked into the Montar ones too closely, but if anyone else is interested, there seems to be a lot of them on sale (from £35 reduced down from over £100) and they definitely go up to larger sizes. I'm tempted to get some anyway!
