daisy has been rugless since monday on advice of RI who says she needs to lose weight. she's a hairy native type but I'm paranoid about her getting rainscald. i've only ever seen it on tb/wb types but do natives get it? she has about 8 hrs turnout a day so does come in at night to dry off

i don't want to waste money on a lw turnout if she'd be better rugless but i really can't decide.

I've seen it on natives before, and Chex got it slighly when the rain settled in his gutter

. Maybe tbs etc are more likely to get it? But cobby types can definitly get it too.

Ye I had a new forest mare that i bourght from the sales that had it although she was poor at the time.
I wouldnt like to take rug off pony mid winter as its got so use to it. Cant you leave it on for another 6 weeks a give daisy some extra work!

Any horse can get it although I think its probably more likely on natives as some have the "gutter" and a thicker coat.

Has she ever had any history of it? If not, then there's no reason to assume she will get it.

If your really worried - the Amigo lightweight is brilliant, it is literally just a very light rain sheet but kept rain off my boys all last summer.
