Sadly the brilliant mare Like A Butterfly lost a battle with colic today

Like A Buttefly is the only horse to win a Group 1 Champion Bumper, Hurdle and Chase - and she was a mare to boot. She leaves behind a young colt foal by Yeats who will hopefully br successfuly fostered onto another mare.

It's been a bad week for JP McManus.

What a terrible time he is having, first Darlan and now this, but the foal will be given the best chance there is, so sad as she was a cracking mare

Terribley sad and she was such a good mare, poor JP he will be devastated as will Jonjo who I believed trained her, I hope they find a foster mare for that poor little foal.

Like A ButterFly's first foal, Speckled Wood won today and is set for the Supreme Novices at Cheltenham.
