I bought a Likit today for Lady, and i had a taste. Yum :D Apple flavour :)
Dearest Mother had an eppy flid when she read 'Not intended for human consumption'. I tried to point out it said 'Not Intended' not 'Not Safe'. I also remember a thread on here about which flavour Likits were people favourites.
So....Are Likits safe for humans?

I might sound strange... But I LOVE the mint flavour :D just as much as the pony does... He ate it all in one night
I know someone (11) that's actually addicted to them and she's still ok ;)

A lick wont do anyone any harm. lol. I often think some of the freshly opened course mix bags smell delicious.
Obviously animal feeds are not prepared under the same strict hygienic standards as human foods, but generally if an animal can eat it safely then it wont kill a human :)

I hope so, I've had a munch of quite a few :p love mint, apple, cherry and the raspberry and vanilla special edition. Nom.

Me and dad have munced a few of them, mum was horrified but we both survived :D I like the cherry one best and the apple one tastes of candy necklaces :D

Yes. All manufactured animal feed has to be safe for human consumption.

What about dog food being made up of the left over bits of meat that are unsuitable for human consumption?
Or do you mean animals entering the human food chain? I'm still not sure they do have to be...just any unsuitable feed has to be withdrawn before slaughter

Oh ROFL ! Reminds me of my little sister she used to eat ALL horse treats when we were younger, likits, horse-bix....you name it !

Shes still alive...a little blonde but I dont think thats the Likits effect :D

Quote: Never mind likits, my OH sneaks sugarbeet (presoaked!) when he thinks I'm not looking...

Now that I'm impressed by :D
I've also known someone eat garlic granuals (EIW!) and H&P nuts  I'm keeping an eye on her hands and feet to find hooves growing soon :D

My daughter won a banana flavour horse bar thingy, looks bit like a bar of chocolate. The pony hated it so she ate the lot! then read on the packet 'not suitable for humans'! She was panicking for days that she was going to die!! Not a small child either....was 14!!!

I also once ate one of the Clop treat bars. My friend told me it was a muesli bar ...

And apparently me and my cousin used to share dog biscuits with my gran's poodle.

My horse and I prefer banana!!! It's quite a fight between us as to who gets it!

Seriously though - I have a friend who insists that she tastes everything that she feeds her horse!! She's in her 60's now and it's not done her any harm!!

I bloody hope so, I've eaten a fair few the past few years.

It's amusing when you tell non-horsey friends about them they're like eewww you eat horse food! :p

They are lovely. :D

ok off subject of likits but when training many years ago we fed "milk pellets"? little white pellets that tasted of white chocolate mmmmmmmmmmmmmm they were so so so yummy :) thank you mr and mrs Howe xxx

Yep they are definalty yum I ate some this evening after reading this thread :D was the a bit of the apple flavoured bar, pony nealy didnt get any. I have eaten pony nuts too they are not that great they taste like biscuits but not at all sweet.

I love likits (there is an appreciation group on facebook for them!) the treat bars are just as tasty, my personal favourite is cherry but will eat any flavour really lol :o

Tee hee :D you just reminded me of a game of dares as kids where my brother ate some fish food flakes.....
Bleugh ! :D

I too am a fan of apple lickits! I also tried an aniseedy treat (it looked like a boiled sweet... so I ate it!)

I once persuaded my little sister maggots taste like chocolate... apparently they don't...

I'm so glad other people eat likits, makes me feel less weird! :)
The mint one is by far the best and the garlic one is lovely too- somehow tastes like ginger edinburgh rock. ;)

Am liking the maggots one!! Wish I'd have thought of that when I was younger to try on my brother! Mind you he's 32 now & still likely to fall for it!!

Im not sure I understand... Frecks has a carrot likit but its a massive great block thing that goes on the pink holder.... are you people telling me you have munched your way through whole ones of those?! How hungry would you have to be :D
